A report from the Kaiser Family Foundation found 36 percent of Missourians did not have their teeth cleaned in the past year. That may be an indication of deeper dental problems- especially for low income families.
KBIA’s Sydney Miller takes a look at the challenges faced by mid-Missouri community health centers and their clients.

Quincie Hickmon (left) sits with friend Maxine Gregory (right) as she waits for an X-Ray at the Samaritan Center in Jefferson City, Mo., on Oct. 26, 2011. After watching Gregory’s first dental visit, Hickmon decided to also sign up for an appointment at the Center. “I think with the world the way it is today, we need more Samaritan Centers, to help through a hard time…it kind of takes the stress off of being in a household with the economy the way it is today,” Hickmon said.
